How do you describe something this amazing
I know I’ve said before in my reviews of Emilia’s books how amazing every single one of them is. I’ve even said that she’s outdone herself over and over again. But this book, Rise Of The King, may be her best yet. The mystery she held out on us from the end of Till The Sun Dies has made this book extra special & extra anticipated. To keep the massive secret of who the King is (also referred to by The Crew as #5), that created so much suspense for the release day. And on release day, not a soul was disappointed 🥰. The intense roller coaster ride on this one was phenomenal. All the mystery & trying to solve the mystery before you get to the end was epic. I’m talking, so much mystery, you want to take notes while reading. Emilia’s caliber of writing is so extraordinarily good, you have to pay attention to every detail, because it may clue you in to what may happen 3 books from now. When I tell you she has an amazing gift, I truly mean it. This book makes you fall in love all over again with people you were never supposed to love. And when your previous loves, your one true love, gets a very short mention, it just warms your heart and makes you smile. (At least it made me smile) Emilia, I cannot tell you how much I love you & your Roller Town characters. You may already know, but it definitely warrants a reminder after this one. Well done my friend, you have made it!!
One of my favorite books I’ve read to date!
I’ve read all of Emilia’s books. This was by far the one I have most anticipated. It did not disappoint. There were a few twists/bombs per Emilia’s style. I feel like so many questions were finally answered. The banter between J and Sophia was the best. The gummy worms, the tutu, the trashcan 😂 All of it. I couldn’t get enough.

Edited 2/20/2020 Can’t say enough about the Emilia Finn Series. Loved this author enough that I’m going to my first ever Book Signing Event just for her! Start at the beginning with the Rollin On Series! Should read all of the Series to understand the characters. Checkmate is grittier, darker but oh, so much more! While the stories might come across as being all about “hot men and women in intimate situations and dropping of the “*f*” bomb…the reality is that the characters and storytelling are all about the meaning of Family, Loyalty and Love. Then re-read all of them again and maybe even a third time - because Emilia Finn is a brilliant, sneaky author! She is an author that values and respects all the roles that men and women have to maneuver through in our social world today; her perspective is invaluable. The stories won’t solve all the world’s problems but makes the burden lighter while we try to. Original Subject Line of “first review”: Laugh & Cry, Scream & Shout! ...or more! I'm a voracious, very eclectic reader. Literally Fantasy, Space Science Fiction, Military, Law Enforcement Thrillers/Mysteries to Regency and the Paranormal. Throw in Classic Darcy and Anne of Green Gables. Yes, I'm current on the Outlander novels. My family has been involved in law enforcement, the military and martial arts. Emilia covers it all! I started with Pawns In The Bishop’s Game of the Checkmate Series and followed with the Rollin On Series when I realized Rollin started it all!. On to the Survivor Series to get the whole picture. l love, love the Rollin On Crew. But Pawns ... Kane ... well.. Sealed the deal! OMG! I'm re-reading all the series' before reading Checkmate’s Rise Of The King. Laughing and crying and seeing so much more in the characters and storytelling. Ya know it’s bad when I’m following the author on Face Book. Five stars for them all! I don't look for editing errors but do blink a few times when I come across them. The author works with a great group of people to ensure a smooth read. There are some amazing, gifted writers out there who deserve to have their visions and stories told. (Maybe I'd better hurry up in my re-reading (going for a 4th re-read of whole series.)but wanted to leave this review before I was buried in the stories again.) There are only a few authors that I sincerely want to see in every format-hardbound to audio. This author is one I hope to see in those other formats. These novels do contain mature subject matter, sexual content, violence, profanity, and scenes that may trigger strong feelings. If not for the E-reader our house would be wall-to-wall books with narrow pathways. Thanks to Kindle Unlimited or we'd be eating Ramen and drinking only water!

This whole series is amazing, but this one was explosive and had everything you could want all in one book! Get ready to have your heart racing and feel every emotion possible! Love, love , love this book!!

She grabs my attention from the first page til the last page.... The story line flows and is spicy enough to keep me reading...i cannot get enough of her books....i almost cried when the book finished just because it finished....she need a bunch more chapters to keep me happy!!! I love Emilia Finn's books!!!!
Best. Freakin. Ever
This is by far my favorite of the Checkmate Series! I totally have a new girl crush, if Soph was real, let me tell ya, I’d leave my husband for that woman in a heartbeat. Emilia can write badass ladies like no other! The action is non-stop, the feels are intense and the romance is silly and sexy (which is my favorite kind). Love. Love. Love this book

Emilia Finn has done it again! Drawn me into the lives of her characters, made me laugh, cry, be mad, be sad, be happy. A couple of great twists, in a well written story. READ THIS BOOK! But if you want to get the most out of it, read at least the other Checkmate books first. (And read the rest of her books because they are just that good!!)
Rise of the king
Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Can I give this book 5 million stars?! Holy moly, what a crazy ending. Love how this series concluded. I don’t want to give anything away, but a lot of questions are answered. Sad to see Bishop, and Ang, Eric, Spence, the twins, Riley and Andi go. There are so many more stories in my head for some of these background characters that I’m hoping Emilia eventually writes about. Awesome series. Checkmate
The King Has Risen
Just when you think the next story can’t be better than the last, Emilia proves you wrong. The fifth in the checkmate series brings the Bishops full circle. Every word, every paragraph, every chapter, brings you right into the middle of the story. This is a cannot put down, many jump up-and-down moments, screaming at the top of your lungs, laughing and praying that the book never ends! This is by far my most favorite author and my most favorite series
Fun, Sexy & Empowering
I love the way Emilia Finn writes about strong-willed, bad ass women. This book takes that to a whole new level. Questions are answered and problems solved. The King rises & a Queen shows him who’s boss. J & Sophia forever!! 💜
